President’s Message 1st June 2024

I am looking forward to welcoming delegates to the Special General Meeting on Tuesday, 4 June at Belrose Bowling Club to assist progress the transition to the new regional structure for bowls within our area. As previously advised, the meeting will start at 7.00 pm and will be followed by an information session to be held by the Interim Management Committee of the new Metro North-East Bowls Incorporated (Regional Association).

Over the last few months, I have worked collaboratively with representatives from both the women’s districts to bring the Regional Association to life and look forward to updating bowlers on the path forward.

I encourage all bowlers who are interested in the move to the new Region to attend this information session.

Given that the new bowling year commences on 1 July 2024, a key step is the establishment of a Match Committee for the Regional Association. Billie Maas from Belrose Bowling Club has been appointed as Match Committee Chair and expressions of interest have been sought for others to join her on the Committee. I encourage bowlers who have Club Match Committee experience to express interest in joining the Regional Committee.

In terms of Zone 9, it was pleasing to see the outcome of the Open Pennant Competition held last weekend. A big thank you to Belrose, Chatswood and Harbord bowling clubs and their respective volunteers for assisting the Zone by providing the venues for these finals.

Congratulations to the following teams on winning the Zone title and best wishes to them all as they compete in the State Finals at the end of June.

Grade 1           Mona Vale
Grade 2           Harbord
Grade 3           Harbord
Grade 4           St Ives
Grade 5           Belrose
Grade 6           Warrawee
Grade 7           Harbord

Members can find the full results from the final series on Bowlslink. Additionally, photos of the respective winners and runners-up are on the Zone 9 website.

Hot off the press, congratulations to the players representing Zone 9 in the Senior Interzone on winning the title defeating Zone 2 in the final. A great effort.

Once again, I look forward to sharing with you the current state of our move into the new administration era for bowls within our region at our meeting/information session next week.
